  • Assistant 3s Teacher

    As a Preschool Assistant Teacher at Pixie Hill Preschool, you will play a vital role in supporting our educational mission by assisting the teaching staff in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for our young learners. You will work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure the well-being and growth of each child in our care.

    Responsibilities:

    Hours and days per week TBD, 9am-2pm

    Assist in implementing the play-based curriculum that encourages children's creativity, exploration, and cognitive development.

    Support teachers in organizing and leading age-appropriate activities, games, and projects that align with the preschool's philosophy.

    Supervise and engage children during free play, outdoor activities, mealtime, and rest periods, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

    Foster positive social interactions and emotional growth among children, promoting a respectful and inclusive classroom community.

    Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, including setting up learning materials, cleaning up after activities, and organizing supplies.

    Collaborate with teachers to observe and assess children's progress, documenting their developmental milestones and interests.

    Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child's daily experiences, accomplishments, and challenges.

    Support children in developing self-help skills, such as dressing, feeding, and toileting, while encouraging their independence.

    Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to continuously enhance your skills and understanding of early childhood education.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree; Early childhood education coursework or relevant certification is a plus.

    Prior experience working with young children in a preschool, childcare, or related setting.

    Passion for and understanding of play-based and child-centered educational approaches.

    Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.

    Patience, compassion, and a nurturing attitude towards children's individual needs and developmental stages.

    Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

    Basic knowledge of child development principles and health and safety practices.

    First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).

    Benefits:

    Competitive hourly wage: $25-35/hour DOE
